I am trying to use Linux (Redhat6.0) to be a www server w/ SSL fuction
But I get too many problems to make it work.
The installation procedure listed below, can anybody tell me where is
wrong????
A: install OpenSSL v0.9.3a
1. unpack openssl-0.9.3a
2. cd openssl-0.9.3a
3. ./config; make; make test; make install
(I will get a new dir. in /usr/local/ssl)
B: install apache1.3.6+ssl_1.35
1. unpack apache_1.3.6
2. cd apache_1.3.6
3. unpack apache_1.3.6+ssl_1.35
4. ./FixPatch
5. ./configure; make; make install (still in apache_1.3.6 dir.)
(I will get a new dir. in /usr/local/apache)
C: Make a test certificate by cd src; make certificate
Then I go to /usr/local/apache/bin and try to run httpsdctl & httpsd
but they don't work.
If I try ./httpsdctl start, it will show "httpd could not be started"
If I try ./hpptsd directlt, it show nothing.
I also use ps -aux to see is httpsd running or not, the answer is NOT!
Becuase it can not work, so I change the installation procedure
1. go to ...../apache_1.3.6 dir., make clean
2. go to src, make clean
3. ./Configure; make (in .../apache_1.3.6/src dir.)
4. cd ..; ./make install (in .../apache_1.3.6 dirc.)
then the httpsd can work, but still have problem
httpsd told me "could not open document config file ..../httpd.conf
why httpd.conf but not httpsd.conf. I only can find httpsd.conf
but the httpsd.conf is for normal apache configure not for SSL apache.
thanks GOD, I found there is a directory in ....../SSLconf/conf
there are httpd.conf with SSL format & httpsd.pem files, so I decide use
that file
I copy the httpd.conf to right dir. and modify it do fit I need
but the nightmare still there!
first, httpsd told me
[debug] apache_ssl.c(340): Random input /dev/uradom(1024) -> 1112
[error] Connot resolve host name heap --- ignoring!
Reading key for server xxxx.xxxx.xxxx:8887
launching... /usr/local/apache/ ../src/modules/ssl/gcache
then if I try to use 98 + IE4 to access the www server
I get a client Authentication and Security window alert windows
it told me that Certificate Issuer for this site is untrusted or unknow.
even I ask it contunue, it told me the connection can not be established.
I alreadt to set the value SSLVerifyClient to 0 (no certicate required)
the same peoblem I got before (two alert windows, no connected)
WHY!! WHY~~ WHY @@@
is anybody can tell me where is wrong, so I can make it work!!
